breathe bar
Meet Sylvia Maldonado, founder of breathe bar, a new meditation service. December 5th is the launch of its 8-week breathe bar meditation series. Taking place at Venue One Chicago, this series will be led by certified instructor Marilyn Joy and will aim to make meditation an essential tool in your wellness routine.
A New Meditation Service
“A busy schedule and mind can be overwhelming. With the holiday season around the corner, we want to share the meditation practices and breathing techniques that allow us to better manage life’s daily stressors, improve well-being and create the space to just be,” explains breathe bar CEO and founder Sylvia Maldonado.
While an invitation to breathe may sound like one of the last things one has time for, studies show that the impact of meditation can take hold quickly.
Series Starting December 5th
The first thirty minute class will be on Monday, December 5, 5:30-6pm. The 8-week series runs through January 30. The cost for the 8-class series is $105; each class is $20. To register for the 8-week Meditation Series or an individual class, please visit: mybreathebar.com/events. Maldonado emphasizes that this Meditation Series is for all levels and is even offering the first class for free.
“Meditation is about letting go so we can create space for better things to enter our lives. I created breathe bar to remove preconceived notions about meditation so people can truly see what a meditation practice can do for their lives- we want to meet you where you are at, whether you’ve been meditating for years or this is your first time,” says Maldonado.
breathe bar will host meditation and wellness pop-ups and ongoing meditation series leading up to its anticipated Summer 2017 studio opening. Updates at mybreathebar.com.

About founder Sylvia Maldonado:
Sylvia Maldonado is an Emmy Award winning television producer and former Peace Corps volunteer. In 2013, Sylvia joined her family business and positioned it for national expansion. She found that such a challenge provided the opportunity to deepen her meditation practice. The positive impact of her practice has led Sylvia to become a passionate believer who wants to share its transformative benefits to as many people as possible. The result: breathe bar. Sylvia believes that meditation shouldn’t be a hidden secret sauce- her goal is to demystify it, make it accessible, inviting and approachable.
