Feeling Stuck?
As we go for our goals, we might find points in the process where we get stuck – – i.e., we don’t feel motivated or we let our fear based thoughts take over. Then, we’re not taking action which we know won’t lead to the results we desire. But, understanding what leads to feeling stuck can help move us toward action.
There’s Hope.
Over the past few weeks, I’ve been sharing tips about how to #BeHappyGetResults. Specifically, I’ve been writing about the best way to get results is to NOT get attached to getting those results. Huh? Yes, to achieve your goals, you must detach from the actual outcome you’re pursuing. Below, I map out the best way to do so starting by going inward.
Going inward helps you know your foundation – – i.e., how you operate while being your best self (based on your strengths and values) and what holds you back. This self awareness can help you define what makes you happy and get clear on what you desire. Use that information to inspire and guide your next steps. Leverage all that you know about yourself and being your best to help you achieve your life vision. But, life happens and we get stuck. So again, knowing what holds you back from going for your goals is helpful, too.
Let’s go deeper into clearly seeing different aspects of yourself.
This discovery process includes better understanding your thoughts & emotions. In ancient times, they said the highest form of intelligence was being a witness or observer of your life. More specifically, it would be great to just observe your thoughts and emotions – – as they impact your behavior and ultimately results.
Notice what holds you back (i.e., what triggers you or the obstacles you face). Understand why you’re triggered – it’s a normal response. It can come from thoughts and feelings associated with F.O.G. – Fear, Obligation, or Guilt. Good news is there is a solution and a tool to help.
Be with and process your thoughts and emotions for emotional agility.
When I’ve taken time to be aware of my thoughts and emotions, I noticed the issue was my thinking. I was letting negative thoughts drive my life. Can you relate? The solution was to understand the influence of my thinking and how it impacted my emotions and ultimately my actions. The best way to gain a deeper understanding of yourself – – i.e., your thoughts and emotions – – is to be in the present moment. Don’t ruminate about the past or worry about the future. Learn about and practice present moment awareness (i.e., PMA) to help regulate your thoughts and emotions and stop feeling paralyzed so that you can eventually take actions toward your goals.
Practice PMA
By being more aware in the present moment, you can be that witness and observer in your life. You’ll identify thoughts and emotions and process them in the moment versus letting them take over. Remember, going inward to get to know the real you (all aspects of yourself) will help you be your best and happiest self. You’ll feel more motivated than ever to go for what you desire and achieve it!
Each week, I’ll continue to share steps to be happy and get results.
