Ask “What If…?”
I was recently interviewed by Voyage Chicago where they asked what my advice is to young women just starting out. And, to me it’s to believe in yourself. This can be easier said than done. So, a tip I often share with my clients is to ask yourself “What if I KNEW I’d succeed, what would I do now?” Then, I ask them to do it! (Or, take one step in that direction.)
In our lives, we can be afraid or excited to move forward. Fear and excitement come from the same place within – – physiologically experienced the same way in our bodies. Fear is just an expectation of a negative outcome while excitement is the expectation of a positive outcome.
So, if you’re feeling fear about a situation, that emotion can be normal. But, aim to understand what thoughts are coming up about that situation. Then, focus your thoughts on a positive outcome. These positive outcomes need to feel true to you, too. When you take this approach, you’ll be more excited, see more possibilities for your life, and be more motivated to take action that will serve you well.
Where can you face a fear and consider other more positive possibilities? Now watch your anticipation, excitement, and results skyrocket:-)
